How It Works
Whether you are a bride working with a designer or you are a designer on behalf of the bride, Skylab is happy to accommodate your unique wedding stationery needs. We also offer customizable templates to fit your personalized wedding stationery. We offer two sheet layout variations for our wedding stationery: The Petite Suite, a 8.66”x10” layout, or The Sweet Suite, a 10”x13” layout.
Our sheet layout templates are a much more efficient way of printing your wedding stationery. We can group several items together on the same sheet and print the whole sheet at once for a generally more efficient and less costly rate than we can by printing each card individually.
The Petite Suite layout includes space for an A7 card (5″x7″) and one additional Baronial 4 card (3.5″x4.875″). The Sweet Suite layout allows space for an A7 card (5″x7″) and a Baronial 4 card (3.5″x4.875″) plus an additional A2 card (4.25″x5.5″). Ultimately, you have the option to personalize which printed items you feel are uniquely necessary to include as a part of your wedding stationery within the limits of each of our Wedding Stationery Suite layouts. Our clients typically reserve a majority of our suite layouts for the main attraction: the Announcement, Invitation, or Save the Date card. Included as a part of both wedding suite layouts, the Baronial 4 card is traditionally reserved for the RSVP card. The additional A2 card, featured in our Sweet Suite layout, provides a bit more creative freedom to enhance your wedding stationery a step further. Possible options for this additional card include: an Accommodations card, an Event Directions card, a Destination Information card, or a personalized Thank You card.
Paper
For wedding stationery we suggest Crane’s Lettra, our preferred house stock. Lettra is 100% recovered cotton fiber paper made specifically for letterpress and is available in a 110#C/300 gsm or a heavier 220#C/600 gsm weight. This supple paper comes in three shades of white: a bright Fluorescent White, a soft Pearl White, or a buttery ivory Ecru. Just like choosing a flavor of cake batter, paper stock is available in a wide variety of options. Skylab also has access to a selection of alternative paper options, available in a variety of colors and weights, if you’d prefer to customize the paper stock for your wedding stationery.
Fine Finishing
Like a gorgeously decorated cake, your wedding stationery can also feature unique extras that will hint at the elegance of your big event. We offer the following finishing touches, in addition to many other speciality finishing techniques:

Envelopes
Coordinate your wedding stationery with the perfect envelopes to deliver the news of your big day to your friends and family in style. Put your mind at ease by including additional Baronial 4 envelopes for the RSVP card featuring your personal return address letterpressed for an extra special touch.
Consider including additional A7 envelopes to enclose your beautifully letterpressed wedding stationery as a whole. Our Sweet Suite and Petite Suite Stationery layouts follow universal sizing which allows us to perfectly pair your wedding color scheme and your stationery paper stock to the precise envelope option.
Ink Color
Incorporating your wedding color scheme into your wedding stationery is simply the icing on the cake. We can perfectly match your personalized wedding colors to our Pantone ink swatches or create a custom matched color just for you. We suggest choosing a dominant color and an accent color from your color scheme to beautifully enhance your letterpressed wedding stationery. You could also consider adding a blind hit as an additional design element. A subtle blind impression is the perfect touch for elements like patterns, frames, illustrations, or motifs.
Foil Stamping
Consider adding a touch of luxurious foil stamping, perhaps in traditional gold or silver metallics, for that extra special touch of traditional elegance. Interested in alternative foils? Foil stamping is also available in a limited palette of non-traditional colors as well as some super unique metallic textures. We are happy to discuss any of these alternatives with you personally.
Timeline
It is best to give your guests plenty of time to plan accordingly for your big celebration. General etiquette suggests delivering the Announcement or Save the Date cards at least six months in advance and at least three months in advance for ceremony Invitations and RSVP cards.
Once we have all the specific details ironed out and your final design is proofed and approved, we will begin printing your high quality letterpress wedding stationery suite with as much care and thought as if it were our own. Please keep in mind that partnering with Skylab will require between 15-20 business days to print and package your final product to our highest standard. As we know, our clients can often be in a pinch, so rest assured we try to accommodate your needs. Every wedding is as special as it is different.
